海と山に近く、多くの歴史遺産のある山口県下関市。本州最西端に位置し、北九州と接する関門海峡が有名です。
参加アーティストは中心地から少し離れた穏やかな住宅地の一軒家をスタジオ兼滞在施設として24時間利用でき、創作活動に集中したり、リサーチ活動の拠点として使用できます。
スタッフによる活動サポートに加え、希望により地域住民を対象にしたワークショップやイベントなどの実施も可能です。
AIR75 is in Shimonoseki city, Yamaguchi Prefecture, close to the sea and mountains. The city is located at the westernmost tip of Honshu, especially famous for the Kanmon Straits that border Kitakyushu.
There are also many historical heritage sites.
Artists can use a house in a peaceful residential area, a little far from the city center, as a studio and accommodation 24 hours a day.
It is also possible to hold workshops and events for local residents upon request.
What is Artist-in-Residenceアーティスト・イン・レジデンスとは
アーティストが、普段の生活・活動・文化環境から離れた土地に一定期間滞在し、制作活動やリサーチ活動を行うこと、またその活動を支援する事業のことをいいます。
創作・制作活動に集中する、地域と関わり文化交流を通して新たな作品を制作する、芸術活動を通して地域課題の解決を目指す、など、世界中で様々なプログラムが提供されています。

スタジオのある長府エリアは、下関中心から車で約15～20分程度の距離にあり、西と東で大きく2つに分かれます。
長府西部地区は毛利家の城下町の残る風情豊かな地域で、飛鳥時代に長門国府が設けられて以来、日本史上で幾度となく登場する場所です。
AIR75のスタジオのある長府東部地区は四王司山連山の麓に位置し、海沿いには工業団地が広がります。住宅地には近年地元企業に勤務する人を中心に外国籍の方の居住も増え、少しずつ多文化社会となりつつあります。
The Chofu town where the studio is located is about 15 - 20 mins by car from the center of Shimonoseki, and is divided into two areas: West and East.
Western area of Chofu is a quaint place where the castle town of the Mohri clan still remains. Since the establishment of Nagato Kokufu (one of the capitals of the historical Provinces of Japan) in the Asuka period, the place has been featured numerous times in Japanese history.
Eastern area of Chofu is situated at the foot of the Shiohji Mountain Range, and industrial parks are located along the coast. In recent years, the number of foreign nationals mainly those working at local companies has increased in the residential area, and the area is gradually becoming a multicultural society. AIR75's studio is in the eastern area.

Based in the western part of Yamaguchi Prefecture, arte75 is engaged in the planning, production, and operation of music concerts, workshops, and other events, as well as artist support and development projects such as music instrument's seminars and artist-in-residence programs.
